“Helping students succeed”
Mazen Hamadeh (PhD, McGill; MSc, American University of Beirut; MSc, University of Toronto; BSc, American University of Beirut) is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science, and, since 2015, the Head of Stong College. His research expertise relates to exercise physiology and nutritional interventions in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). His teaching focuses on nutrition in health and disease, advanced human metabolism, and nutritional/ergogenic aids in sport and exercise. He is affiliated with the Muscle Health Research Centre. In summer 2010, he became the Academic Advisor of Bethune College where he has established several peer-based academic support programs to help students succeed throughout their academic life cycle. Dr Hamadeh has helped build a community of students, peer leaders, graduate peer mentors, staff and faculty at the colleges to help students build their personal, academic and professional networks, and establish longstanding relationships while honing their leadership skills.
Dr. Hamadeh was appointed to the Board on July 1, 2020 and serves on the Academic Resources and External Relations Committees.
